HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-1000i (1K4E8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello all,

I've the ENVY TE01-1244 with the Intel i5-10400. I'm using the machine for audio and video editing, in addition to everyday computing. I've upgraded my power supply to a 500w to accommodate my NVDIA GeForce RTX 3050 GPU.

Will there be any advantage to upgrading processor to an Intel i7-10700?

Since the Core i7 -10700 processor has a burst frequency of 4.8 GHz compared to the Core i5-10400 which has 4.3 Ghz,

Yes, there will be a performance boost that you will notice and appreciate.

Thanks Erico,

Yes, I saw that list of compatible processors. Was just wondering if the upgrade was worth it.

HP Recommended

Any upgrade where the increase is 300  Ghz or more it is worth it.

The 10700 even has a 16 MB L3 cache.  That is better than the  12 MB L3 cache that the i5-10400 has.

Don't forget the 8 cores instead of the 6 cores that the i5-10400 has

It will have faster processor cycles.

Your PC will get a nice performance boost.

Below 300 Ghz it wouldn't even be perceptible.
