Hi @nelson64,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer is stuck in waiting mode and won't print or copy, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure there are no error messages or warnings on the printer's control panel.
  • Check if there are any pending print jobs in the print queue on your computer. Cancel any stuck print jobs.

Restart Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If using a wireless connection, check the wireless settings on the printer and make sure it is connected to the correct network.

Reset Printer:

  • Press and hold the power button on the printer for 10 seconds to reset it.
  • Wait for the printer to turn off, then turn it back on.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. If so, download and install the updates following the instructions provided. Click here

Check Paper and Ink Levels:

  • Make sure there is enough paper in the paper tray and that the ink cartridges are not empty. Replace any empty cartridges if necessary.

Reinstall Printer Driver:

  • Remove the printer from your computer's list of installed printers.
  • Download and install the latest printer driver from the HP support website.

Test Print:

  • Try printing a test page from your computer to see if the issue is resolved.

If the problem persists, there may be a hardware issue with the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
