macOS 12.0 Monterey

Problem after installing new router with new name.  worked great before that.  The printer is visible but not printing from Mac desktop and not even visible on other iOS devices.  I've followed all the suggestions I can understand and the loop of 79 service error, restart required.  It continues to initialize, and say 'ready' but upon making any change attempt the 79 error recurs immediately after I attempt to touch the settings (wrenches) icon on the screen, so I can't find a way to reset to factory settings and start over on network setup.

After installing the new router, I  used the set up wizard to enable the printer on the new network.  It appeared to me that it worked.  The name of the new network appeared on the small screen, but the connection does not work.

I don't want to be forced to buy a new printer because of a network problem, so I'd appreciate any help getting out of this

Hi @SMITHLAKER,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP LaserJet 200 color printer is encountering a network issue after you installed a new router with a new network name. The 79 service error you're experiencing typically indicates a firmware error or an issue with the printer's network connection.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.
  • Check Network Settings: Ensure that the printer is connected to the correct network. You can usually do this by printing a network configuration page from the printer's control panel. Make sure the network name (SSID) matches the name of your new router's network.
  • Reconfigure the Printer's Network Settings: If the network settings seem incorrect, you may need to reconfigure the printer to connect to the new network. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this. You may need to access the printer's web interface through a browser on your computer.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues with new network equipment.
  • Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults: If all else fails, you can try resetting the printer to its factory default settings. This will erase any custom settings, including the network configuration. Again, refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the network connectivity issues with your printer and avoid having to purchase a new one.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
