Hi @Plugnoplay,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with printing in color on your new iMac with Sonoma and HP 7220e. Let's troubleshoot this together. Here are a few steps you can try.

  • Check Printer Settings: Make sure that your printer settings on your iMac are configured to print in color. When you select the print option, look for a "Printer" or "Printer Settings" button and ensure that the color option is selected.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your HP 7220e printer. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause printing issues.
  • Check Printer Connection: Verify that your printer is properly connected to your iMac. If you're using a wireless connection, ensure that both devices are connected to the same network.
  • Printer Hardware: Check your printer's hardware to ensure that it's capable of printing in color. Sometimes, printers may have separate cartridges for color and black ink, so make sure the color cartridge is installed and not empty.
  • Test with Different Software: Try printing a color document from a different application to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to one program or a system-wide issue.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting both your iMac and your printer can resolve connectivity and printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
