whenever I switch on my desktop various vertical lines with different colours appear on screen. How to get rid of this.

Hi,

If you have various lines on the panel when you start PC. Even in BIOS.

It means that the panel has a problem and needs to be replaced.

If you provide the exact model or product number of the machine, we can take a look at how to do this.

As Iomare stated it may need a screen replacement but if you move the screen and the lines change it could be an issue with the display cable coming from the screen to the motherboard, You can try reseat it or replace the cable if this happens.
