Five Realtek drivers were updated overnight. Since the update was applied (4/29/24) cannot get midi players to output to the earphones although the MP4, MP3 etc. sound and the sound test output correctly. Difficult to understand why this is happening. Rolled back four of the five drivers, but cannot find the fifth to rollback. Driver name is Realtek - Software Component V 12.0.6000.322. Cannot fine this driver - it is not listed in Device manager.

I have solved the problem. I recently installed the Coolsoft MIDI Mapper and VirtualMIDI Synth. When the Realtek drivers were installed, this somehow changed the VirtualMIDI Synth output from Earphones to Speakers. Mystery is why would the update change this. This thread can now be closed/locked.
