HP ENVY 6032 All-In-One Printer

The printer, an Envy 6032, reported error E3 today. This is supposedly a stalled cartridge problem. There are no obstructions and the cartridges are Instant Ink. I tried replacing them with the next set of Instant Ink cartridges but E6 was reported instead.  The cartridges can move freely, there are no paper jams or obstructions.

I removed the black cartridge and the printer worked ok on the colour cartridge only, error E3 vanished and I could print a pdf as well as printer status reports.

What's going on...why would the printer have a problem with the black cartridge? It's clearly not an obstruction to free movement along the rail.

I've tried resetting the printer, removing power for 60seconds and all of that stuff but it has no effect.

Hi @Danc123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It sounds like there may be an issue with the black cartridge or its connection in your HP 6032 printer. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the Error E3:

Check the Cartridge:

  • Remove the black cartridge from the printer.
  • Inspect the cartridge for any damage or leaks.
  • Check the cartridge contacts for any dirt or debris. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth if necessary.

Reinsert the Cartridge:

  • After checking the cartridge, reinsert it into the printer and ensure it is securely in place.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. If so, download and install the updates following the instructions provided. CLICK HERE

Replace the Cartridge:

  • If the issue persists, try replacing the black cartridge with a new one. Make sure it is a genuine HP cartridge compatible with your printer model.

Contact HP Support:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the printer. Contact HP support for further assistance

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
