Hi @blueb3rriezzvt,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you want to Upgrade your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0083w for dual monitor gaming is definitely possible, here's a breakdown of the upgrade possibilities:
- Essential Upgrades:
- Power Supply (PSU): This is crucial for any significant upgrade. The stock 400W PSU likely won't handle a more powerful graphics card. Aim for a minimum of 500W, ideally a 650W for future upgrades.
- Graphics Card (GPU): The GTX 1050 Ti might struggle with dual monitor gaming. Consider upgrading to a card like the GTX 1660 Super or AMD RX 5600 XT for better performance. Ensure compatibility with your PSU wattage.
- RAM: 8GB is the minimum for modern gaming, 16GB is highly recommended for smoother multitasking and dual monitor use. Look for DDR4-2666 or higher memory compatible with your motherboard.
- Additional Upgrades:
- CPU: While the Ryzen 5 2400G is decent, you can upgrade to a Ryzen 5 2600 or 3600 for a noticeable performance boost, especially in CPU-intensive games. However, this might not be necessary unless you feel CPU bottlenecks.
- Storage: A Solid State Drive (SSD) will significantly improve boot times and overall system responsiveness. Consider a 500GB SSD for your OS and frequently used games.
Here are some resources to help you with the upgrade process: HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0083w Product Specifications Please refer to Motherboard Specifications
I hope this helps.
