I went on the infamous “loop of torture” 3 long beeps, 2 short, after installing 2x16GB Corsair CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 into my OMEN 30L - 3080 - 10700K.

I followed the steps of @Vvoodoo’s post as he seemed to fixed it here:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/RAM-went-from-3200-gt-2133-MHZ-after-installing-intel/...

I can get to 1333MHz which means 2666 MHz, but once I select 1600MHz and let it reboot, its back in the “loop of torture”.

Can anyone help me?

P.S. is 32GB on 2666MHz better than 16GB on 3200MHz which the stock memory was on?

Hi @DellaMorte7

Your PC is now also stuck in a BIOS update loop per this Forum Link.

Go back to the factory RAM. Now try to fix the BIOS problem per steps suggested at the above link.

More RAM is better to a certain point but having more memory does not make the PC faster. The exception to this would be when the OS must use the slower paging file due to lack of available system memory.

And you can't compare different sticks of RAM without having the CAS Latency for each memory module. Overall memory latency is determined as follows:

(Memory stick CAS latency) times (2000)/ MT/s.

Example, a 2666 MT/s memory stick with a CAS latency of 16 compared to a 3200 MT/s stick at CAS latency 20.

(16)(2000)/2666 =  12

(20)(2000)/3200 =  12.5

The 2666 memory stick is surprisingly faster (not by much in this example) because the difference in the CAS latency between the two sticks of memory offsets the higher frequency (3200).

As stated in the other post the corrupted BIOS is resolved.

So, I'm running the 2x16GB on the 2666MHz, my question remains; once I select 1600MHz it goes into the boot loop and revolts back to base 1032 (or something low) and the voltage at 1.20.

What could cause this?

-Bumping up-

As stated, im now running 2x16GB on 2666MHz and when In try to go to 1600Mhz in the XMP profile it crashes and revolts back to 1032Mhz.

Does anyone have the magic solution how to get it to 1600MHz / 3200Mhz?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @DellaMorte7

I don't think your 30L PC's: MB and BIOS natively support XMP or DOCP. And, you would have to provide a specific HP Product Number or the MB SSID to get assistance.

Only some memory (HP and some other select modules) may run at overclocked speeds and timings. I don't keep track of which memory modules might provide XMP or DOCP performance on your unknown MB.

Maybe a different Forum member can assist. @NonSequitur777 would have some suggestions.

@Bill_To,

Yea, I've been looking into these sorts of issues before.

@DellaMorte7,

The problem is that XMP access in your desktop appears to be limited.

Certain RAM (Corsair Vengeance, G.SKILL, etc.) get stuck at their default (SPD) speed, like your RAM:

And there is nothing you can do about it.  When we look here amongst HP System OMEN 30L Desktop GT13-0xxx Users, we don't have to look very far to witness this:

Link: HP OMEN 30L Desktop GT13-0xxx Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

The best RAM Users installed in their desktop was almost all HP-branded Kingston RAM:

Kingston HP32D4U8D8HC-16X 2x16GB
Kingston HP32D4U8S8ME-8XR 4x8GB
Kingston HP32D4U8D8HD-16XR 4x16GB

However, there are a few Users who managed to make Kingston Fury (Beast) RAM run as well as 'native' (HP-branded) RAM:

Kingston Fury KF3200C16D4/32GX 4x32GB

Kingston Fury KF3200C16D4/16GX 2x16GB

Personally, I would be mostly interested in functional, non-fancy RAM.  For example, I would be inclined to try this quality/affordable 4 x 16GB DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM (UDIMM), dual rank (2Rx8) 288-pin RAM 4x16GB RAM kit: https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-3200MHz-PC4-25600-Unbuffered-Computer/dp/B0CD17NRLZ/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1....

Thanks for the response!

My MB is the Dorado. I have already tried the KF432C16BBK2/32 (2x16GB) which had the same issues as currently.

The HP RAM is not available anywhere in the world, the Timetec RAM is only sold in the US, takes about a month to get to Europe (The Netherlands).

Do you maybe have other suggestions?

You are actually a legend! Installed this RAM, booted by itself, without any XMP profile it runs at 3200MHz. 👻

Do you recommend any changes e.g. XMP profile with different timings?

@DellaMorte7,

You're welcome!

Nope: just leave as is, in my opinion.

Perhaps you want to run the UserBenchMark test and post the link, so I can have a look at it.

Kind Regards,
