Dear hp Printer Community,

I'm aware that my hp printer (S/N: [personal info removed]) is capable of burning DVDs.

My problem is that I have absolutely no idea about how to go about it.

In my experience with previous printers there has to be a DVD slider tray to mount the DVD onto then fed into the machine. Does this machine need one, if so must I buy one?

Looking in the back of my hp printer I see that there are sets of  rollers, so I presume my hp printer must have a DVD slider tray to mount the DVD on so it can be fed into the back.  I was not given a slider tray when I purchased it.

Please email me the full instructions/manual method of doing the DVD burning.

I will be very grateful if you will do this for me.

Thank you,

Best regards,

TrevOK

Printers that can print DVDs have a slot in the FRONT in which a DVD tray is placed, not in the BACK.

The slot in the back is to feed paper or labels in that don't do well when being rolled over when fed from the top or the back.

You've misread something.  Some model printer can PRINT DVDs because, as you have indicated, they have a tray on which to place the media.  I do that with Epson printers, so I know it can be done. But printers can not BURN DVDs -- that requires a DVD Writer device connected to your PC and DVD burning software.

Thanks for your reply,

If my hp printer cannot print DVDs, why did I get a message on the Google internet that 'the back of the printer must be a certain distance from the wall' and why has it got a flap that can be opened at the back which reveals the rollers inside?

Sorry to go on, and thank you for being patient with me, but I want to be sure that I fully understand your advice and whether, perhaps, I should buy a dedicated DVD burner for my Apple Mac computer.
