I am looking to backup the BIOS for an HP a7v8x-la motherboard  and to down load a compatible version for this motherboard a7v8x-la.  I get a flash page which informs me to press F1 to go to the BIOS menu. However, I only get a blank screen and not the BIOS display of the BIOS menu.  This unit worked in the past and suddenly stop working by not display the BIOS menu.

So I need to know how to backup BIOS to a disk file and how to download a compatible version of a a7v8x-la motherboard. Can you please help?

I've done BIOS upgrades a LOT over the years, both on Custom PCs (which I have assembled) and on different brands of laptops.

The custom PCs have retail motherboards so their BIOS update routines always provided a way to do a BIOS backup prior to the update.  I've had this save me more than once when a Beta update trashed one of my PCs.

In contrast, at least with recent HP laptops, I have not seen any setting that allows for backup the BIOS code to a USB stick prior to the update.  Thus, it has been with some anxiety, that I have allowed HP BIOS updates over the years.  If the frequency of posts here by folks who got their machines trashed through failed BIOS updates is any indication, I have been extremely lucky.

But ... that said, I am not an HP BIOS Expert -- so I am sure someone will coma along telling you they have never had a problem updating HP laptops and, if there is a backup option, telling you how to use it.
