Hi @peteb2012,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing a "Kernel Security Check Failure" blue screen error on your HP All-In-One 27 Desktop PC can be frustrating, especially if it's leading to random shutdowns. While passing diagnostics is a good sign, it doesn't necessarily mean the hardware is completely fault-free. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to address the issue.

  • Update Drivers: Ensure all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause compatibility issues leading to such errors.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is fully updated. Microsoft often releases patches and fixes for known issues, and updating your system might resolve the problem.
  • Run Memory Diagnostic Tool: Even though your diagnostics have passed, it's still worth running a memory diagnostic tool like Windows Memory Diagnostic. It can help identify any potential issues with your RAM.
  • Check for Overheating: Overheating can cause system instability leading to such errors. Ensure that your PC's cooling system is functioning properly, and check if there's any dust buildup blocking the airflow.
  • Scan for Malware: Sometimes, malware can cause system errors. Perform a thorough scan using reliable antivirus software to rule out any malware-related issues.
  • Check Hardware Connections: Loose connections or faulty hardware can also cause such errors. Make sure all hardware components are properly connected, including RAM, hard drive, and peripherals.
  • Check Event Viewer: Use the Event Viewer in Windows to check for any error logs related to the "Kernel Security Check Failure" error. It might provide more specific information about what's causing the issue.
  • Check Disk for Errors: Use the built-in Windows utility, Check Disk (chkdsk), to scan your hard drive for errors and fix them if any are found.
  • System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state when it was working fine.

Remember to back up important data regularly, especially if you're experiencing random shutdowns, to avoid potential data loss.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
