A customer wanted to understand the difference between a working phone and a non-working phone based on their configuration.

 

Since UC Software 4.0.0 Poly phones can backup their running configuration.

Simply browse to the Web Interface Utilities > Phone Backup & Restore > Phone Backup > Phone Backup

Once the files have been downloaded use a tool like Notepad++ (Similar tools should be out there for a Mac)

NOTE: The Plug In needs to be downloaded separately via Plugins > Plugins Admin > Search > Compare and then Install
 

  • Once done the above open both Backup PBU Files and then go to Plugins > Compare > Set as First to Compare > select 1st file

  • Select the 2nd file and go to Plugins > Compare > Compare

  • The difference between the configuration is shown in the File and the Compare NavBar also highlights their location in the file
