Important Note: The new VVX 250, 350 & 450 with hardware revision announced via Engineering Advisory 210826 is not supported by Poly OBi Edition software and a conversion as described in other articles is not supported.  Poly is reviewing support of OBi Edition software on the new hardware revision of VVX 250, VVX 350, and VVX 450 and will issue a notification ahead of any changes.

How to tell a VVX 250, 350 & 450 with the hardware revision: (shipping as of June 2022)

  • On the box, the label will be blue. See a picture in Product Shipping Configuration Change for VVX Series (EA210826).
    1. The revision on the blue label will read: REVISION ZZA
  • On the console label, the console part number will end in .021 or .121. (The difference in numbers reflects manufacturing location.)
  • The console revision will read: Rev A
  • The new console part number ending in .021 or .121 and Rev A will also be seen in the Web Configuration Utility and phone UI. Again, refer to Product Shipping Configuration Change for VVX Series (EA210826   for details.
  • A Phone log may show:

  • Polycom VVX 350 IP Phone, OBi Edition 2200-48832-125 NOT 2200-48830-025
  • Polycom VVX 450 IP Phone, OBi Edition 2200-48842-125 NOT 2200-48840-025

In order to setup Desk Phones browse to https://admin.google.com/:

SteffenBaierUK_11-1713532710997.png

And browse to admin.google.com > Apps > G Suite > Google Voice > > Service Management

SteffenBaierUK_12-1713532731675.png

The first setting is usually the Location of the service where the Phone is located

SteffenBaierUK_13-1713532748982.png

The Service may be a bit fussy the way the address should be added:

SteffenBaierUK_14-1713532771183.png

In the above example a complete address like this "Foundation Park,Roxborough Way, Maidenhead SL6 3UD, UK" was required for the service to validate the Location.

The next step would be to assign a location to the selected user and then assign a phone number.

SteffenBaierUK_15-1713532788823.png

Again the Service Address should match the previous Location street address

Once the above is all done a user should be able to assign a Desk Phone but in my test account (left) I was missing the Desk Phone option (right)

One way to verify the User has actually been assigned the role to verify the actual User has the Admin roles and privileges

of Google Voice Admin assigned

In "theory" simply browsing to the URL: https://admin.google.com/ac/voice/provision should enable a user to now assign the Desk Phone to an individual phone

Simply provide the MAC Address of the Phone via pressing Home > Product Info > scroll down to the Mac Address

SteffenBaierUK_21-1713532945355.png

  • Add a User name to assign the phone to a specific user

  • Start typing the user’s name or email address

  • Select the user from the list that appears when you start typing

  • Enter a Desk phone name to identify the phone
    Select Close

The phone may reboot a couple of times and once you see the Google Voice logo the provisioning should be complete.
